Senior IT Project Manager : Shipping, Logistics and Supply Chain

Overview

In this role, you lead the delivery of complex, high-risk technology projects that support business objectives and digital transformation within a world-leading energy trading environment. You will own end-to-end delivery, ensuring governance, financial control and successful outcomes while collaborating with cross-functional teams. Based in Waterloo with flexible remote days, you’ll influence senior stakeholders and shape delivery across logistics and supply chain operations. This opportunity focuses on impactful tech programs in energy trading, shipping and commodities.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex, high-risk technology projects with end-to-end accountability
• Establish governance, align with business objectives and drive successful outcomes
• Manage stakeholders across business and technology functions; communicate project status and risks
• Oversee budget, financial control, risks and change management for projects
• Support digital transformation initiatives within logistics, distribution, terminals, supply chain and similar operations
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery approaches
• Ensure adherence to project management standards and deliver on senior stakeholder expectations
• Provide leadership and mentorship to project teams to manage competing priorities
• Utilize tools such as MS Project, Azure DevOps and Jira for planning and tracking
• Maintain strong problem-solving and communication to mitigate project risks

Key requirements

• Experience in logistics or commercial operations environments
• Delivery of large-scale technology projects with high business impact and senior stakeholder visibility
• Background in large global organisations, regulated industries, energy or financial services
• Experience with supplier management and project tools (Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira)
• Strong planning, governance, financial management, risk management and change control expertise
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams across business and technology functions
• Experience with Agile, Waterfall and hybrid delivery approaches
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
• PMP, MSP, PgMP or equivalent project management certification
