Cost Manager – Data Centre

Overview

In this role you help clients in the data centre sector control costs and maximise value across the project lifecycle. You will work with cross‑functional teams to deliver accurate cost plans, procurement support, and post‑contract cost management, contributing to business growth and client satisfaction. The position sits within a global, client‑focused firm known for technical expertise and proactive delivery. You’ll engage with stakeholders to optimise value, improve processes, and capture lessons learned, shaping outcomes on major projects.

Responsibilities

• Support feasibility studies and procurement reports
• Prepare cost estimates and final cost plans
• Manage tendering and procurement activities (pre‑qualification, tender analysis, reporting)
• Oversee post‑contract cost variations and change control
• Conduct cost checks and valuations for accuracy
• Produce monthly post‑contract cost reports
• Contribute to value engineering and cost optimisation
• Negotiate and settle final accounts
• Collaborate with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders across stages
• Lead cost management teams to ensure high‑quality delivery
• Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships and growth
• Assist in bid documentation preparation
• Improve cost management procedures, templates, and services
• Ensure knowledge management captures lessons learned
• Monitor financial performance using FMS
• Identify and escalate process improvement opportunities
• Review commission management quality and operational efficiency

Key requirements

• Degree or equivalent in Cost Management / Quantity Surveying
• Chartered with the RICS, or equivalent
• Strong measurement and cost planning expertise (NRM2)
• JCT / NEC / FIDIC experience
• Commercially astute with good negotiation skills
• Excellent people person and great communicator, both internal and external
