Water Design Manager

Overview

In this Design Manager role you sẽ provide technical leadership across the full design lifecycle for blue‑green infrastructure, drainage and flood risk projects. You will guide multidisciplinary teams to deliver high‑quality outputs that meet standards and safety requirements, while managing scope, budget and schedules. You’ll engage clients and stakeholders to shape project objectives and resolve design challenges. Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across feasibility, outline and detailed design, reports and specifications
• Lead delivery of complex design tasks with programme and budget accountability
• Identify and resolve engineering, design, and stakeholder issues to keep projects on track
• Manage day‑to‑day design team interactions and maintain clear communication with clients and stakeholders
• Liaise with clients and external parties to develop scopes, price proposals, and report project progress
• Mentor and coach junior team members and support professional development

Key requirements

• Bachelor in Civil Engineering
• Chartered or Incorporated or working towards ICE/CIWEM
• Experience in design and delivery of sustainable drainage or nature‑based solutions in a leadership role
• Experience in outline or detailed design of flood risk management or drainage schemes
• Experience leading project teams and mentoring junior staff
