Location: Oxford
Job Description:

We’re recruiting a Customer Account Manager for an established advanced manufacturing business. The company manufactures complex components and assemblies for customers operating in demanding engineering environments, where quality, lead times and commercial accuracy are critical.

This position will take responsibility for two significant customer accounts, representing approximately £10m to £15m in combined spend.

We’re looking for someone who is comfortable managing accounts of this size, understands the commercial detail behind manufacturing contracts and can build strong working relationships with customers and internal teams.

This isn’t a traditional sales role focused on chasing new business. The priority is managing existing customers effectively, ensuring quotations and commercial agreements are accurate, and keeping on top of changing requirements.

The Role

You’ll act as the main commercial contact for your customers, managing enquiries, quotations, pricing and ongoing account requirements.

Working closely with engineering, production, planning and finance, you’ll make sure customer expectations are understood, commercial commitments are realistic and any issues are addressed before they become bigger problems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing day-to-day relationships with major manufacturing customers.
  • Taking ownership of customer enquiries and coordinating the quotation process.
  • Reviewing pricing, costs and margins to ensure work is commercially viable.
  • Managing pricing reviews and renegotiating commercial terms where required.
  • Working with engineering and production teams to understand technical requirements, manufacturing costs and delivery commitments.
  • Managing customer forecasts, schedules and order requirements.
  • Monitoring account performance, identifying commercial risks and resolving customer issues.
  • Supporting contract reviews and ensuring agreed terms are maintained.
  • Maintaining regular communication with customers on pricing, delivery, changes and ongoing requirements.

We’re looking for someone who has experience managing established customer accounts within an engineering or manufacturing business.

You might currently be working as an Account Manager, Customer Account Manager, Commercial Account Manager or in a customer service management position with significant commercial responsibility.

What’s important is your ability to manage demanding customers, understand the numbers and maintain control of the commercial relationship.

Ideally, you’ll have:

  • Experience managing high-value B2B customer accounts within manufacturing or engineering.
  • Exposure to multimillion-pound customer contracts or programmes.
  • A good understanding of quotations, estimating, pricing and margin analysis.
  • Experience reviewing or renegotiating commercial terms with customers.
  • The confidence to work with engineering, production and planning teams to resolve technical or delivery issues.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and changing customer requirements.
  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, motorsport, precision engineering, composites or a similar manufacturing sector.

You won’t need to be a salesperson. We’re looking for someone commercially aware, organised and comfortable taking responsibility for significant customer relationships.

The Opportunity

You’ll be joining a growing manufacturing business with an established customer base and a strong pipeline of work, with recent investment there is a solid growth strategy.

The accounts you’ll manage are important to the business, and you’ll have a direct influence on customer satisfaction, commercial performance and the way work moves through the organisation.

For someone who enjoys the detail of account management, from quotations and margins through to customer communication and delivery, this is a chance to take responsibility for substantial accounts within a technical manufacturing environment.
