Communications Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead and protect our reputation through premier media relations and the press office, while delivering key corporate communications across the organisation. You will coordinate high‑level reporting and major announcements, partnering with senior stakeholders to shape strategic narratives. This is a fast‑paced, visibility‑driven role where your impact spans media engagement, internal alignment, and external storytelling. You’ll join a purpose‑driven housing organisation that values clear, influential communications and cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the press office and manage high‑profile media enquiries
• Build and maintain journalist relationships and respond quickly to issues
• Oversee production of major corporate reports (annual reporting, financial updates, organisational announcements)
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to shape corporate narratives and communications strategy
• Advise and influence senior leaders on communications risk and opportunities
• Manage complex communications projects and sensitive messages
• Develop and maintain consistent messaging across channels to protect and enhance reputation

Key requirements

• Substantial experience in corporate communications or public relations
• Experience in housing, charitable, or public-facing sectors preferred
• Strong understanding of the media landscape
• Excellent writing and stakeholder management skills
• Confidence to advise and influence senior leaders
• Experience managing complex projects and handling sensitive communications
• Ability to develop compelling corporate narratives
