Finance Manager

Overview

In this hands-on Finance Manager role, you will run the day-to-day finance function and report to the Finance Director. You’ll lead a small team while partnering with Commercial, Operations and the Exec team to drive budgets, forecasts and performance. You’ll own month-end, cash flow, stock valuation and audit processes, shaping financial insight across wholesale, cafés, export and e-commerce. The role combines robust financial control with practical system improvements. You’ll work in a values-driven, collaborative culture that prioritises honesty, ownership and fairness.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end processes and deliver management accounts with variance commentary
• Review journals, reconciliations and control accounts to keep the balance sheet clean
• Manage weekly cash flow forecast, approve payments, and oversee working capital
• Oversee stock valuation and quarterly stock audits
• Produce monthly sales and margin reporting across wholesale, cafés, export and e-commerce
• Partner with Commercial, Operations and Exec on budgets, forecasts and performance
• Lead external audit and ensure VAT, payroll and statutory compliance
• Coach and develop two finance juniors
• Improve processes and systems across Xero, Shopify and related business systems

Key requirements

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or final exam stage with relevant experience
• Experience running month-end and producing full management accounts
• Solid grasp of balance sheet control, accruals and stock accounting
• Experience mentoring or managing junior team members
• Strong Excel and working knowledge of Xero
• Confident presenting numbers to senior leadership
• Background in FMCG, manufacturing, hospitality or multi-site retail is a plus
