Financial Controller – South Leeds – SME

Overview

In this Financial Controller role you will act as the FD’s deputy, leading a small finance team and owning management accounts and statutory reporting. You’ll drive stronger controls, cleaner reporting and better processes as the business scales under PE ownership. You will work closely with leadership to influence senior stakeholders and support lenders and investors. This is a growth-focused position with a clear path to a future FD role as the company continues to expand.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a small finance team
• Own end-to-end management accounts and financial reporting
• Coordinate and lead the year-end audit and statutory accounts
• Manage balance sheet reconciliations and accounting controls
• Oversee VAT, payroll compliance, P11Ds/PSA and R&D claims
• Handle intercompany reconciliations and day-to-day banking/cash processes
• Support financial reporting to investors and lenders
• Prepare 13-week rolling cash flow forecasts
• Drive process improvements and respond to accounting standard changes

Key requirements

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified
• Hands-on, bias for action in a pressurised SME environment
• Strong technical accounting knowledge in multi-entity and/or international settings
• Confident in influencing senior stakeholders and communicating finances clearly
