Refrigeration Engineering Manager

Overview

In this role you will own and advance refrigeration specifications to meet business demands while supporting sustainability commitments and regulatory compliance. You will partner with Store Design and stakeholders to shape new store concepts and ensure solutions are delivered right first time. You will drive innovation for energy efficiency and refrigerant strategy, and lead improvement plans by analyzing equipment performance. You will collaborate across Construction, FM, Procurement and suppliers to guide technical reviews and investment decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously develop refrigeration specifications aligned with business requirements and sustainability goals
• Collaborate with Store Design and stakeholders to support technical development of new store concepts
• Identify and lead refrigeration innovation opportunities to improve sustainability, energy efficiency, and operational performance
• Review equipment performance, identify root causes, and develop short-, medium-, and long-term improvement plans
• Build strong cross-functional relationships with Construction, Facilities Management, Procurement, consultants and suppliers, providing technical guidance and reviews
• Support investment and category planning decisions with technical input

Key requirements

• Degree-level qualification in Refrigeration or equivalent
• Strong technical knowledge of refrigeration systems: design, specification, and maintenance
• Experience managing technical activities across a multi-site environment
• Proven ability to manage relationships with third-party suppliers, consultants and contractors
• Practical knowledge of refrigeration legislation, Health and Safety requirements, F-Gas regulations and environmental standards
• Excellent attention to detail, budgeting and communication skills
