Legal Counsel

Our client is a fast-growing payments company. Their infrastructure is purpose-built for in-person commerce and serves a large and growing customer base across multiple countries.

They hire exceptional people and give them autonomy, trust and ownership.

They are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Product Counsel to act as a strategic partner to their Product and regulatory teams. You will work within a collaborative legal team and get involved in a variety of matters across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the go-to legal partner for Product and Engineering teams
• Embed within the development lifecycle and advise on regulation and legal requirements
• Ensure a compliant and commercial go-to-market approach
• Draft, review and negotiate a range of contracts
• Develop and scale legal processes to help teams move quickly
• Partner with Marketing, Communications and Compliance to ensure product messaging and promotional materials are compliant, clear and on-brand
• Advise Risk and Customer Support teams on escalations and ad hoc queries
• Advise on general commercial and regulatory matters as they arise
• Track legal and regulatory developments and translate them into actionable insights

About you

• Qualified lawyer with 4+ years of PQE from private practice and/or in-house
• Preferably advising technology or financial services companies on product-related legal issues
• Experience in financial services regulation
• Strong command of contract law
• Pragmatic and commercial approach to problem solving
• Ability to give clear and actionable advice in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels
