Principal Civil Design Engineer – Water & Wastewater AMP8

Overview

As Principal Civil Engineer in Arcadis’ Water team, you will lead multidisciplinary teams on clean water and wastewater schemes across the UK. You will provide technical direction, nurture client relationships, and drive delivery of major framework programmes. You’ll influence strategic outcomes while promoting safety, quality, sustainability and a culture of innovation. You will mentor and line-manage staff and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration to achieve sector goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead portfolio of multi-disciplinary projects and multi-scheme programmes
• Build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships across design disciplines
• Oversee quality processes and technical assurance per company systems
• Plan, direct, and control tasks, people, resources, and outputs
• Provide technical leadership and develop team members to potentials
• Undertake Line Manager duties and pastoral care
• Resolve project issues and guide team members
• Promote proactive Safety, Health, Quality and Sustainability culture
• Foster innovation and continuous improvement in engineering technology
• Collaborate with other Arcadis teams to share knowledge

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or other directly related degree
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status and membership of ICE, CIWEM, IWO
• Experience of complex design and delivery frameworks and/or design-and-build projects
• Proven technical leader with ability to motivate a diverse team
• Digital literacy or curiosity
• Strong communication with partner organisations across disciplines
• Working knowledge of project and programme management with contract and commercial understanding
