Senior Civil Design Engineer – Water & Wastewater AMP8

Overview

As Senior Civil Engineer in Arcadis’ Water team, you will lead civil design work on a diverse portfolio of water projects across the UK. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality, construction-ready designs that support sustainable outcomes. The role focuses on shaping resilient water infrastructure within AMP8 and beyond, driving innovation and continuous improvement. You will mentor junior staff and contribute to commercial and project delivery aspects while upholding safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Take a lead role on civil design and/or packages of work
• Coordinate designs with other disciplines, team members, and supply chain
• Liaise with clients, supply chain, and project stakeholders
• Prepare high-quality design drawings and construction-ready documentation
• Develop clear design calculations, reports, drawings, and deliverables
• Adhere to Business Management processes and procedures
• Contribute to positive Safety, Health, Quality and Sustainability outcomes
• Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
• Develop hands-on experience of commercial, programme and financial matters
• Mentor and support the development of less experienced staff

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering or other directly related degree
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with ICE, CIWEM, or IWO
• Strong technical design experience on water projects
• Good knowledge of Water Industry Clients and Contractors
• Self-motivation, influencing and people management skills
• Knowledge and experience of BIM-led design and digital tools such as REVIT and Civils 3D
• Good working knowledge of applicable British Standards, UK Industry Codes of Practice and Water Specifications
