Electrical Design Engineer

Overview

As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will steer projects from initial client discussions through to final designs and technical drawings. You will collaborate with clients, PMs, estimators and install teams to drive design delivery for commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects. You’ll produce detailed electrical designs with AutoCAD, ensure regulatory compliance, and support handover. This role offers long-term growth within a respected North West contractor and diverse project exposure.

Responsibilities

• Meet with clients to discuss requirements and electrical design solutions
• Conduct site surveys and attend customer meetings as required
• Produce detailed electrical designs and technical drawings using AutoCAD and other CAD software
• Prepare and present design proposals to clients
• Update drawings in line with client feedback and project requirements
• Ensure designs comply with current industry regulations and standards
• Liaise with project managers, estimators, and site teams throughout project delivery
• Support projects through all stages, from design through to installation and handover

Key requirements

• Proven experience as Electrical Design Engineer
• Strong electrical background in installation or contracting environments
• NVQ Level 4 in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• Strong AutoCAD/CAD design experience
• Ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings, and client requirements
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Desirable: Experience working for an electrical contractor or subcontractor
• Desirable: Knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems
• Desirable: Experience supporting projects through full lifecycle
