Risk and Compliance Lawyer

Overview

As a Compliance/Risk professional in our regional law firm, you support the head of risk and compliance to safeguard regulatory standards. You will provide guidance on SRA rules, confidentiality, conflicts, and client care, while promoting ethical decision-making. You’ll advise on AML and GDPR matters, manage sensitive inquiries, and assist with audits and quality checks. The role is hybrid with a Nottingham office presence, offering a meaningful chance to shape risk governance in a client-focused firm.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory & Ethical Advice: advise on SRA Standards, confidentiality, conflicts, and client care; promote ethical decision making
• AML: advise on source of funds/wealth, high-risk clients, PEPs, complex transactions; handle SARs and compliance queries
• Inbox & Enquiry Management: manage responses to the Professional Standards inbox
• Governance, Audits & Quality Assurance: assist with internal and external audits and quality checks

Key requirements

• Legally qualified (Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX lawyer) with knowledge of SRA regulation, AML, GDPR, and professional standards or strong risk/compliance experience in a law firm

• ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion
