Job Overview

Flame Health Optometry have been instructed to recruit an Optical Practice Manager and Dispensing Optician for an on-site role in Cheltenham, with a salary of £36,000–£41,000. This opportunity will suit a qualified Dispensing Optician with optical practice supervisory experience who is ready to take ownership of a practice’s performance, team development and patient care.

About the Job

You will lead the day-to-day running of the practice, with responsibility for operational standards, sales, profitability and the patient experience. Working closely with the Managing Director and other practice managers, you will monitor key performance indicators, identify opportunities to improve results and take appropriate action.

Alongside your management responsibilities, you will dispense single vision, bifocal and varifocal spectacles, and select and develop the practice’s frame range. You will support a high-performance culture built on accountability, teamwork and excellent patient care, holding regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and development conversations with team members. The position combines hands-on optical work with broad responsibility for the practice’s overall performance.

About the Employer

Our client operates in optical retail and is seeking a manager to lead a successful practice. The role’s remit reflects a focus on balancing commercial performance with quality patient care, while fostering a positive environment for colleagues and patients. The package includes a company pension, cycle-to-work scheme, employee discount and sick pay.

What We Are Looking For

You will be a qualified Dispensing Optician with proven supervisory experience in an optical practice and a strong background in management, team leadership and operational oversight. A sound understanding of key performance indicators, budgets, sales performance and profitability is important, as is the ability to use performance information to identify opportunities and take action.

You will bring excellent organisational skills and be able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced practice. Strong communication skills are essential, enabling you to engage effectively with patients, motivate colleagues and support their development. The role calls for someone who can maintain high standards of patient care while taking clear responsibility for commercial and operational outcomes.

Who This Role Suits

This role could suit an experienced optical supervisor ready to take broader responsibility for practice performance and team leadership. It offers a move for someone motivated by developing colleagues, delivering excellent patient care and contributing to sustainable commercial results.
