Software Development Manager, Ring Video Platform

Overview

In this role you lead a Ring Video Platform team to shape the technical direction and roadmap for scalable, reliable video services. You stay close to architecture, performance, and failure modes while mentoring engineers and building trust as a technical voice. You’ll drive AI-enabled improvements across the software lifecycle and partner with device, cloud, and app teams to deliver cross-functional launches. This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-paced, scale-driven environment that values innovation and high standards.

Responsibilities

• Set the team’s technical direction and roadmap, balancing new customer experiences with long-term platform health
• Lead deep architectural, performance, and reliability analyses and justify design trade-offs
• Prototype new approaches and turn promising ideas into production systems
• Shape how AI is used across the software lifecycle to improve outcomes
• Hire, coach and develop engineers and foster a culture of ownership and high standards
• Collaborate across device, cloud, and app teams to deliver cross-system launches
• Communicate with senior leadership using narratives, metrics and data-driven decisions

Key requirements

• Knowledge of engineering practices across the full software/hardware/networks lifecycle
• Experience in engineering team management
