Senior Engineering Manager

Overview

In this Manufacturing Systems Architect role, you act as the technical authority for the missile portfolio’s production systems, ensuring current capability and future readiness. You will lead Spiral Development, manage obsolescence, and drive industrialisation and CAPEX at project level, coordinating across suppliers, customers and internal teams. You’ll enable smooth transition from development to series production while maintaining technical interfaces and risk mitigation. This is a high-impact, cross-functional position shaping how we produce advanced defence systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead Spiral Development activities at project level with cross-functional involvement
• Coordinate obsolescence management from a manufacturing perspective
• Lead and support Industrialisation aspects of Project Product Gate Reviews
• Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives within area of responsibility
• Lead project rate increase requirements to meet production capacity
• Manage Manufacturing CAPEX submissions and funding at project level
• Coordinate production system preparation and proving from validation to full certification
• Identify and mitigate project risks related to technical definition and manufacturing methodologies
• Develop and maintain technical interfaces with customers, suppliers and collaborators
• Ensure smooth transition from development to series production at a technical level

Key requirements

• Proven technical background in engineering
• Experience with manufacturing systems, preferably in defence
• Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
• Ability to influence across the business and project environments
• Credible authority on technical topics at project and domain levels
• Experience leading projects such as Spiral Development and obsolescence removal
• Experience in problem-solving, risk management and timely resolution of technical issues
• Experience with industrialisation processes
• Strong communication, organisational and decision-making skills
• Confidence in making or influencing senior-level solutions
• Manufacturing experience with long-term, strategic stakeholder management
