Head of Quantitative Production – Renewable Energy

Overview

In this senior, hands-on leadership role you’ll shape the technology and production layer behind a growing energy trading platform. You will translate quantitative research into scalable, live trading capabilities and drive automation, reliability, and deployment speed. Collaborating with research, trading, data, engineering and AI teams, you’ll map commercial priorities to a technology roadmap and build a capable team to scale. This role offers high visibility with senior leadership and a meaningful impact on expanding trading across Europe.

Responsibilities

• Shape the technology and production capability behind the energy trading platform
• Own the journey from quantitative research to live trading strategies
• Improve deployment speed, automation and production reliability
• Collaborate with Quantitative Research, Trading, Data, Engineering and AI teams
• Translate commercial priorities into a technology roadmap and build the processes and team to scale
• Lead development of systems for forecasting, optimisation, algorithmic bidding and automated dispatch
• Establish robust standards for model validation, deployment, monitoring and incident response
• Identify bottlenecks and make build-versus-buy decisions to maximise value
• Provide hands-on leadership with exposure to senior leadership and shape the function as trading expands into Europe

Key requirements

• Experience leading quantitative production, algorithmic trading technology, systematic trading or asset optimisation in a power/energy trading environment
• Experience taking quantitative models from research into production
• Strong software fluency, including Python-based quantitative workflows, architecture and deployment
• Experience with production ML or model platforms, data-intensive systems and live monitoring
• Understanding of optimisation, automated bidding, dispatch or execution systems
• Sound commercial judgement to prioritise technology investment based on measurable value
• Experience leading cross-functional technical teams and managing external technology partners
• Hands-on, collaborative leadership style that challenges priorities while encouraging production discipline
• Bachelor in a top-tier university
