Overview

Senior Staff Software Engineer on the Maia team drives architecture and high-impact AI features within Matillion’s Data Productivity Cloud. You mentor engineers, shape strategy, and lead cross-squad initiatives in agentic AI and Gen AI-enabled data pipelines. This role blends platform scale with cutting-edge AI experimentation in a fast-moving environment. You will collaborate with product, data science, and engineering to turn vision into scalable software with measurable impact.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture and design for the Maia team across two squads to enable scalable, maintainable software at pace
• Drive agentic AI feature development by building tools, integrations, and workflows for the Data Productivity Cloud
• Stay ahead on Gen AI developments by trialling models and approaches and feeding insights into team strategy
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design input, and hands-on guidance
• Collaborate with Product Manager and Data Science to translate product vision into technical reality while balancing quality and delivery pace

Key requirements

• Deep Java expertise with hands-on experience building scalable distributed systems on AWS
• Experience with agentic AI systems and familiarity with testing and scaling such features
• Technical leadership experience (tech lead, architecture influence, team growth)
• Full stack capability a strong plus (React, TypeScript, Tailwind) and familiarity with Langchain or Langgraph
• Adaptable, fast-moving, and comfortable with evolving requirements and new technologies
