Consultant – Senior Consultant, GB Power Market and Flexibility Modelling/Advisory

Overview

In this role you will advise on GB power markets with a focus on flexibility technologies, shaping market analyses and investment cases for flexible assets. You will work within Baringa’s Power Market Advisory team to deliver actionable insights for generators, investors and regulators. You will translate complex market data into client-ready recommendations and stay ahead of regulatory shifts. Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of GB wholesale, Balancing, reserve, response and capacity markets to due diligence on flexibility investments
• Manage, interpret and build quantitative models to assess asset revenues, optimisation strategies and investment cases for flexible power assets
• Contribute to client-facing engagements by shaping analysis, structuring findings and presenting recommendations
• Monitor regulatory and market developments affecting GB flexibility and storage revenues and translate them into practical client implications

Key requirements

• Good working knowledge of GB power markets (wholesale, Balancing, reserve, response and capacity markets)
• Experience in structuring presentations for senior stakeholders in the GB power space
• Foundation in Python and SQL for data analysis and modelling
• Desirable: experience with PLEXOS or similar power market modelling software
• Strong commercial acumen; experience with investment models or valuations desirable
• Experience with commercial structures for flexible power assets (e.g., BESS floors, tolls, offtake contracts) desirable
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills
