Finance Manager
Application Deadline: 30 October 2026
Department: Finance
Employment Type: Permanent – Full Time
Location: Aberdeen
Reporting To: COFO
Description
We are hiring a Finance Manager in Aberdeen to own Restrata’s day-to-day finance operations end to end and to deliver accurate, review-ready monthly management accounts across the group. The role covers accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control, payroll coordination across three jurisdictions, and month-end close and reporting. This is a hands‑on role in a lean finance team. The successful candidate will process transactions directly, investigate discrepancies, resolve routine issues independently and escape material exceptions to the Head of Finance, while improving the process rather than simply running it.
Reporting line and context
The Finance Manager reports to the Head of Finance and is based in Aberdeen. There are no direct reports at present. This is an individual contributor role, working closely with colleagues across the business and with external payroll providers and professional advisers.
Restrata is a PE-backed B2B SaaS business in security, resilience and critical event management, operating across the UK, UAE and US. The finance team is small and works closely together, and runs on Rillet, recently implemented to automate a large part of the transactional cycle. The Finance Manager will help embed reliable workflows and strengthen reconciliations, while maintaining appropriate checks and evidence of review.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts payable
- Own the purchase ledger end to end: supplier onboarding, invoice processing, coding and approval workflow in Rillet
- Prepare the payment run for Head of Finance approval, including supporting schedules and cash impact
- Manage supplier queries, statement reconciliations and aged creditor reporting
- Verify supplier bank details and any changes independently, and submit them for approval in line with the finance authority matrix before use
- Administer the employee expense and company card process, resolve missing supporting information and reconcile approved transactions to the ledger
Accounts receivable and credit control
- Raise and issue customer invoices in line with contract terms and billing schedules
- Own cash allocation and the sales ledger
- Run active credit control: chase overdue accounts, elevate where needed and report on aged debt and collections performance
- Work with Sales and Services on billing queries and disputed items
Payroll coordination
- Coordinate all scheduled and off‑cycle payrolls across the UK, UAE and US with the outsourced payroll providers in each jurisdiction
- Own the payroll calendar, gather and validate change data, and submit within each provider’s cut‑off
- Check provider output and investigate variances before submitting for independent approval, and reconcile payroll to the general ledger each month
- Maintain payroll records and support statutory reporting obligations in each jurisdiction
Month‑end and management account
- Run the month‑end close: accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare the monthly management accounts pack for review by the Head of Finance, including variance commentary and material issues requiring a decision
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Maintain current cash balances and provide reliable payment, collection and funding information to support the Head of Finance’s cash planning
- Support the annual audit and year‑end process by preparing schedules, maintaining an audit trail and responding to requests on time
Process and controls
- Operate within the finance authority matrix and maintain the control environment across the transactional cycle, keeping preparation and independent approval separate for payments, supplier bank‑detail changes and payroll
- Document finance processes and keep them current
- Identify and implement automation and efficiency improvements in Rillet and connected systems, testing and reconciling changes before relying on them
- Maintain the compliance calendar and prepare VAT and other recurring statutory schedules for review, coordinating with external accountants and tax advisers
- Work with the Head of Finance to put practical cover arrangements in place for payroll, payments, billing and close
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Essential
- Substantial experience running both purchase and sales ledgers in a small or mid‑sized business, with genuine ownership rather than supervision of a team
- Demonstrable experience preparing monthly management accounts to review standard, ideally across multiple entities and currencies
- Payroll coordination experience with outsourced providers, including validating provider output and reconciling to the ledger
- Comfortable in a hands‑on role: willing to process transactions directly, and able to do so at pace
- Strong Excel, and confident working in a cloud accounting or ERP platform
- Qualified by experience, or CIMA or ACCA finalist. Full qualification is welcome but not required
Desirable
- Multi‑entity or multi‑currency experience, particularly across the UK, Middle East and US
- Experience of payroll in more than one jurisdiction
- Experience of a finance system implementation or migration
- Background in SaaS, technology or another recurring revenue business
Job Benefits
- Hybrid working arrangements
- 34 days holidays (inclusive of bank and other public holidays)
- Enhanced family friendly benefits
- Private medical insurance
- Onsite gym
- A supportive and collaborative work culture
