Overview

In this Senior AI Automation Engineer role you will design and deliver production-grade AI applications, intelligent agents and automated workflows within a governed enterprise. You’ll work at the intersection of AI engineering, software development and automation to move solutions from PoCs to real-world production use. The role centers on building scalable, observable and secure AI-powered systems that integrate with enterprise platforms. You’ll shape architecture, drive standards and mentor others while contributing hands-on to critical projects at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and build AI agents and multi-step automated workflows
• Develop production-grade Python services, APIs and automation pipelines
• Develop solutions using Copilot Studio and Power Platform
• Orchestrate workflows across Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry and internal systems
• Integrate AI apps with REST/GraphQL APIs and event-driven architectures
• Create reusable connectors, tools, services and agent capabilities
• Design agent orchestration, tool-use and integration patterns
• Build CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
• Deploy and monitor AI applications in production
• Ensure solutions are scalable, observable, secure and maintainable
• Lead technical design discussions and code reviews
• Help establish engineering standards and mentor junior engineers

Key requirements

• Strong commercial Python engineering experience including APIs, testing, modular architecture and asynchronous processing
• Strong experience with Copilot Studio
• Strong experience with Power Platform and workflow automation
• Experience building and deploying production AI/LLM applications, agents or AI-powered workflows
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Foundry or comparable AI platforms
• Understanding of agentic AI patterns, orchestration, tool use, prompt design and LLM limitations
• Strong API and systems integration experience (REST/GraphQL)
• Experience designing reusable services, connectors and integration components
• Microsoft Azure experience across functions, containers and AI services
• Strong CI/CD, Git and automated testing experience
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes or Azure Container Apps
• Understanding of production monitoring, reliability and observability
• Experience with MCP or similar integration patterns, AI governance, prompt evaluation/versioning, event-driven systems or highly regulated environments (valued)
