Assistant Team Manager

Overview

In this role you will provide professional leadership and oversight to the Adult Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub, ensuring high-quality safeguarding practice and coordinated decisions. You will supervise staff, drive service improvements, and collaborate with partner agencies to protect adults at risk. The role supports operational planning, chairs complex meetings, and promotes learning to achieve positive safeguarding outcomes. This is a key leadership position within a values‑driven council focused on inclusion and cross‑agency collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional leadership, oversight and support to the Adult MASH to ensure high-quality safeguarding practice
• Supervise and mentor staff; quality assure practice and manage performance
• Lead on service improvements and collaborate with partner agencies for effective multi-agency safeguarding responses
• Contribute to operational planning, chair complex meetings and support service development
• Promote continuous learning and professional development to achieve positive outcomes for adults at risk

Key requirements

• Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
• Extensive experience in adult safeguarding, safeguarding enquiries and multi-agency working
• Strong knowledge of the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act
• Experience supervising or managing staff
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Ability to lead meetings, drive service improvements and build professional relationships
