Design Manager

Overview

As a Design Manager, you will lead design delivery for projects in London and the Thames Valley, ensuring design queries are resolved and design work aligns with programme and budget. You’ll coordinate external consultants and client teams, analyse complex information to identify core issues, and influence decisions through clear communication. This role sits in a rapidly expanding, award-winning contractor with strong progression prospects. You will shape design outcomes on large-scale schemes and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver value.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design process and resolve design queries
• Coordinate external consultants and client approval teams to maintain programme and budget
• Critically analyse information to identify key issues
• Communicate persuasively to gain agreement and acceptance of ideas
• Support on large projects with managerial responsibilities
• Understand Principal Designer duties including ERIC

Key requirements

• Degree level education
• Experience on large projects in a managerial capacity
• 12 months completing designs in a consultancy or Temporary Works design department
• Experience with Principal Designer duties including ERIC
• Background in a dual contractor/consultant environment
• Willingness to commute to Swindon when required
