Head of Design

Overview

In this role you will lead the design department for a high-profile residential contractor in London, guiding a team of eight across design management, coordination, and technical delivery. You will optimise planning, design processes and discharge conditions to deliver complex RC-frame residential schemes (10–22 storeys) in central London. You will work closely with clients on JV and competitive bids, influencing project outcomes and team performance. Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the in-house design team (Managers, Coordinators, Technicians, CAD)
• Oversee planning process and discharge conditions for residential schemes
• Ensure timely and accurate design delivery for RC-frame apartment projects
• Coordinate with clients and external stakeholders on JV and bid work
• Support and shape design strategy for high-profile central London schemes

Key requirements

• Experience running a design team in construction/architecture environment
• Familiarity with planning processes and discharge conditions
• Proven delivery of residential schemes, particularly RC-frame, 10–22 storeys
• Experience with JV projects and competitive bids
