Interaction Design Lead

Overview

As Interaction Design Lead at IDEO London, you guide multidisciplinary teams to transform research into tangible experiences across digital and physical realms, including AI-enabled interactions. You will shape design direction, stay hands-on with journeys and interfaces, and mentor teams while collaborating with clients to turn strategy into usable products and services. You’ll explore how people interact with AI, aiming to build trusted, human-centred experiences. Responsibilities

• Lead and co-lead multidisciplinary project teams from research through delivery
• Set design direction and craft journeys, flows, interfaces and interaction details
• Build prototypes with Figma, code and AI-assisted tools to test ideas early
• Collaborate with researchers and technologists to plan experiments and refine designs
• Explore conversational and agentic UX and design for AI systems behavior
• Own project plans, resources and milestones; brief and delegate work
• Serve as main client contact; facilitate sessions and align stakeholders
• Scope client challenges, shape proposals, and identify follow-on opportunities
• Mentor designers and foster an inclusive, knowledge-sharing culture across London

Key requirements

• 6–8 years of experience in interaction design or related fields
• Strong craft with portfolio demonstrating complex requirement mapping to clear experiences
• Grounding in human-centred design, research and usability testing
• Ability to scope, brief and delegate design work, manage timelines and resources
• Eye for visual hierarchy, responsive interfaces, motion and micro-interactions
• Prototyping skills in Figma or similar tools; openness to AI-assisted ideation
• Commitment to accessibility, inclusive design, and privacy considerations in AI
• Excellent storytelling, presentation and facilitation; ability to build client relationships
• Interaction Design qualification or equivalent experience
• Willingness to travel for projects
