Step up into a finance role with real influence
Fire Protection Online are a fast-growing e-commerce business supplying fire and safety equipment in a regulated market. We are hiring a Management Accountant who wants to do more than produce reports: someone who will shape how the business understands its numbers and uses them to make decisions.
You’ll work closely with the senior team, work alongside a bookkeeper and external accountants, and own the management reporting. The role is built to grow, and for the right person it could develop into Finance Manager
What you’ll be doing
- Owning the monthly management accounts and delivering them on time and accurately
- Building budgets, forecasts and cash-flow models
- Digging into variances and explaining what’s driving them
- Tracking KPIs and presenting findings and commentary to the board and senior managers
- Analysing sales and commercial data and turning it into practical recommendations
- Working with sales and operations colleagues so the wider business understands its financial performance
- Supporting the bookkeeper and credit-control resource and helping shape the day-to-day finance function
- Spotting inefficiencies, tightening controls and building reporting and planning processes that scale
What we’re looking for
- A proven track record producing management accounts
- Hands-on experience of budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management and variance analysis
- Ability and experience in preparation of statutory accounts.
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to turn data into insight people can act on
- Experience reporting KPIs to senior leaders or a board
- Confidence working with non-finance colleagues and explaining numbers simply
- A proactive, improvement-minded approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- A willingness to be visible around the business, not tied to your desk
Qualifications
Fully qualified/part-qualified ACCA is a must and a demonstrable track record in a similar role matters more than the letters after your name.
Nice to have
- An entrepreneurial streak and enthusiasm for helping build a growing business
- Ambition to move into strategic finance leadership
- Experience in an SME, owner-managed, e-commerce, distribution or other fast-paced commercial setting (not essential)
What you’ll get
- A key role in building and improving the finance function
- Direct exposure to senior leadership and board-level decisions
- Genuine scope to expand the role and progress over time
- A collaborative, commercially focused team in Canterbury
- Benefits package and holiday entitlement to be confirmed at interview stage
Important: please read before applying
- This is a 100% office-based role in Canterbury. There is no remote or hybrid option.
- You must already live within a realistic daily commute of Canterbury, Kent.
