Senio Sales & Business Development Manager – Data Centre HVAC & Cooling Infrastructure
Location: UK-wide, home-based with national travel but will require regular trips into London
Package: Highly competitive basic salary, commission, annual bonus and car allowance
A long-established, market-leading UK engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit a senior, technically credible Business Development Manager to develop major opportunities within the rapidly expanding data-centre market.
The business designs and manufactures bespoke mechanical and HVAC equipment, including:
- Buffer, pressure and thermal-storage vessels
- Plate heat exchangers
- Calorifiers and commercial hot-water systems
- Packaged plant rooms and skid-mounted systems
- Bespoke heating and cooling equipment
The company already has strong market recognition, established consultant and contractor relationships and a substantial multimillion-pound data-centre pipeline. This is not a cold-start territory; the successful candidate will be responsible for getting under the skin of live projects, developing senior relationships and converting opportunities into orders.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on specification and project-sales position involving:
- Developing relationships with M&E/MEP consultants, contractors, developers and end users
- Identifying data-centre projects at the design and specification stages
- Understanding technical, operational and commercial requirements
- Influencing specifications and positioning appropriate engineered solutions
- Progressing opportunities through design, tender, procurement and order
- Developing existing relationships while creating new business
- Managing a high-value, long-cycle project pipeline
- Producing accurate forecasts and maintaining CRM activity
- Working closely with internal estimating, engineering and manufacturing teams
- Supporting growth across the UK, Ireland and potentially Europe
The Candidate
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- A strong background in technical, project-led or specification sales
- Experience within data centres, mission-critical cooling, HVAC or mechanical infrastructure
- Established relationships with M&E consultants and contractors
- The credibility to discuss technically complex projects with engineers and senior stakeholders
- Evidence of personally developing and winning significant projects
- A proactive, commercially driven approach rather than purely managing existing accounts
- The ability to operate independently while collaborating with technical teams
Relevant product backgrounds could include:
- Data-centre cooling infrastructure
- Chillers and chilled-water systems
- Heat exchangers and thermal equipment
- Buffer, pressure or storage vessels
- Pumps, pressurisation and hydronic systems
- Packaged plant rooms or skid systems
- Commercial heating and hot-water equipment
- Other technically engineered mechanical products
Exact product knowledge is not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided. However, candidates must demonstrate strong commercial ability, technical credibility and experience developing consultant- and contractor-led projects.
This is an opportunity to take a leading commercial role within a rapidly growing division that has the potential to become a major standalone part of the wider business.
