Senior Accountant

Overview

In this role you will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, delivering accurate accounting and timely financial information. You will prepare management and year-end accounts, handle bookkeeping, VAT, payroll and Self-Assessment, and liaise with HMRC and other stakeholders. You’ll work across sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, ensuring compliance and practical accounting guidance. You will collaborate with clients and colleagues to maintain high service standards and support business decisions. Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients with up-to-date accounting records
• Prepare management accounts and year-end accounts for various entities
• Handle bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, and general ledger activities
• Prepare and support payroll, Self-Assessment tax returns and other compliance
• Work on accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
• Review financial information, investigate discrepancies and ensure accuracy
• Support year-end processes, audits and information for HMRC and external stakeholders
• Provide clients with practical accounting guidance and software assistance

Key requirements

• ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified with post-qualification experience in an accountancy practice
• Strong practical experience across accounts preparation, VAT, payroll and Self-Assessment tax returns
• Confident using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar
• Well organized, commercially aware and able to manage multiple clients and deadlines
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate financial records
• Excellent communication skills and a professional, approachable manner with clients
