Job description

Are you passionate about supporting businesses to grow and thrive?

Teesside University is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Business Support and Facilities Officer to play a key role within Victoria Road, a vibrant innovation and enterprise hub at the heart of the Tees Valley Investment Zone. The successful candidate will help create an outstanding environment for ambitious businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators while supporting the delivery of services that enable companies to access the University’s research, innovation and business growth expertise.

Acting as the first point of contact for existing and prospective tenants, you will manage the customer journey from initial enquiry through to occupancy, ensuring businesses receive an exceptional experience throughout their time within the facility. You will oversee the day-to-day operation of the building, working closely with tenants, University colleagues and service providers to maintain high-quality facilities, maximise occupancy and foster a thriving innovation community.

A key part of the role will be building strong relationships with businesses and helping them connect with the University’s wider research, innovation and enterprise support offer. By understanding business needs and opportunities, you will support companies to access expertise, facilities, funding opportunities and collaborative innovation activities designed to help them innovate, grow and create economic impact across the Tees Valley.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational and communication skills, a strong customer-service ethos and experience of delivering high-quality operational, business support, facilities or events services. You will be confident managing multiple priorities, building professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and taking ownership of creating a welcoming and professional environment. Experience of facilities management, CRM systems, business support or stakeholder engagement would be particularly beneficial.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the region’s key innovation assets, supporting businesses at every stage of their journey and helping to strengthen the Tees Valley’s growing innovation economy.

Join us and help build a thriving community where businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators can connect, collaborate and grow.

Funding has been allocated for this position until March 2029, however, as the funding is reviewed on a annual basis, the appointee will be issued a fixed term contract for a 12 month period.

Please be advised that due to the minimum salary thresholds imposed by the UKVI, this post will not qualify for university sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa route.

Please note that the University may ask you to participate in a number of selection activities as part of the recruitment process for this vacancy. If you are shortlisted, your interview will take place in person, on campus. Interviews will take place on 17 September 2026.

What we offer you

  • A holiday entitlement of 185 hours (25 days), increasing to 28 and 30 days after 3- and 5-years’ service respectively, plus bank holidays (pro rata for fractional posts).
