Manager, Software Development – Risk R&D, AI, Architecture & Innovation

Overview

As Manager, Software Development in Risk R&D, you will lead hands-on software delivery and provide technical guidance within the AI, Architecture & Innovation team. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional partners to design, implement, test, and ship risk solutions while maintaining code quality, security, and performance. The role blends coding with limited managerial duties, centered on coaching and team mentorship. You’ll influence product direction and uphold high engineering standards in a secure, scalable environment. Responsibilities

• Lead project designs and enforce technical standards
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentoring, training, and team management of activities
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure requirements are met and aligned with R&D standards
• Manage scoping and scheduling, monitor progress, and communicate risks to executives
• Maintain end-to-end code ownership including internal and external consumption
• Contribute to product direction with Product Management, Marketing, Sales, etc.
• Oversee team dynamics, performance feedback, and professional growth with HR and leadership
• Hands-on development tasks including coding, reviews, testing, feature design, and demos
• Ensure adherence to security policies supporting secure software development goals

Key requirements

• Eight years of programming or testing experience, with at least one year in lead/management roles
• Bachelor in Computer Science or related field
• Strong knowledge of generative AI, SDLC, and at least one OOP language
• Proven ability to mentor, set goals, and foster an inclusive engineering culture
• Right to work in the UK
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience acceptable
