Associate Technical Director – Modelling

Overview

In this role you lead hydraulic wastewater modelling projects within Arcadis’ Water Engineering team, guiding delivery for UK Water Company clients and other stakeholders. You’ll influence the direction of projects addressing CSO improvements, SuDS retrofits, and flood and pollution challenges across a portfolio. Expect technical leadership, cross‑disciplinary collaboration, and client management to ensure high‑quality, compliant solutions. This position offers a path toward senior management and a chance to shape sustainable water solutions.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage a portfolio of wastewater projects across disciplines and stakeholders
• Take ownership of project delivery with clients, including potential secondments
• Ensure adequate resources and strategic recruitment for programme delivery
• Build and maintain client relationships and Arcadis’ reputation for innovative design
• Develop and manage quality processes (PCRA) and ensure deliverables meet standards
• Lead and develop staff to meet evolving technical and managerial needs
• Provide technical leadership and guidance, promoting quality, innovation, and entrepreneurship
• Contribute to issue resolution and support team members
• Adhere to and promote health and safety standards across the team
• Perform other duties as required by management

Key requirements

• Proven ability to deliver wastewater modelling projects from scoping to Concept Stage and through design
• Strong client management skills and experience overseeing technical outputs
• Experience delivering large projects/programmes and commercial/contract management
• Ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries and with external partners
• Experience with SuDS and Nature Based Solutions across a wide project portfolio
