Overview

Enthusiastic Senior Mechanical Engineer to help establish and lead a new Edinburgh operation within an established building services consultancy. You will work with senior leadership to grow the business across Scotland and the North of England, leveraging your technical expertise and commercial sense. Your role combines delivering high-quality M&E designs with client development and office growth. This is a chance to influence a regional expansion and pursue leadership and equity opportunities. You will work in a hybrid model across Scotland, the North, and site environments, shaping a growing office and its project portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical engineering solutions from concept through to project completion
• Lead HVAC and public health design across multiple projects
• Produce design calculations, specifications, schedules, reports, and technical documentation
• Manage client relationships and act as a primary point of contact
• Identify and support new business opportunities across Scotland and the North of England
• Mentor and support junior engineers as the team expands
• Coordinate with electrical, structural, and architectural disciplines
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, British Standards, and best practices
• Design energy-efficient and low-carbon building services solutions
• Support the establishment and growth of the Edinburgh office

Key requirements

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Experience in Building Services or MEP consultancy
• Strong HVAC and public health design experience
• Knowledge of UK Building Regulations and industry standards
• Experience using Revit, IES or similar software
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Commercial awareness and interest in business development
• Ambition to progress into a leadership role
