You will lead the Automation and AI Team on Sheffield City Council’s digital transformation journey, shaping how automation and AI deliver better public services. You will set strategic direction, oversee delivery, governance and adoption of Power Platform–driven solutions, and collaborate with suppliers and business stakeholders. You will drive opportunities from PoCs to scalable implementations, ensuring secure, accessible, and standards-aligned outcomes. Responsibilities
- Lead strategic planning, prioritisation and delivery of automation and agentic initiatives with allocated resources
- Design, develop and improve Power Platform solutions, automated workflows, digital services and AI-enabled services
- Provide expert guidance on automation technologies, governance and service improvement
- Ensure solutions are reliable, scalable, secure, accessible and aligned with governance and security requirements
- Cultivate relationships with service areas, suppliers and stakeholders to identify automation opportunities
- Drive digital transformation and maximise value from automation investments
- Coordinate delivery through developers, technical specialists and suppliers, managing work pipelines, risks and dependencies
- Ensure initiatives comply with governance, information governance, security, accessibility and Responsible AI principles; prepare documentation for approvals
Key requirements
- Strong leadership and people management with coaching and development
- Ability to articulate a clear vision for automation, low-code and AI services
- Deep understanding of Power Platform stack (Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, Copilot Studio) and Copilot agents
- Experience establishing governance, security controls and best practices across Power Platform and AI
- Capability to manage demand, prioritisation and resource planning
- Strong stakeholder management with senior leaders, service areas and suppliers
- Proven track record delivering complex digital, automation and AI projects on time and within budget
- Solid knowledge of information governance, GDPR, accessibility, cyber security and Responsible AI
