Engineering Lead Reshopping – Barcelona or London

Overview

In this role you will own the end-to-end Reshopping architecture, guiding the design and integration across hotel and air. You’ll align multiple teams to a single blueprint, drive scalable, AI‑assisted development, and elevate how we deliver automated, high‑reliability bookings. You’ll partner with cross‑functional teams and external providers to push for safe, high‑impact optimization at scale. Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end solution design for reshopping across hotel and air
• Maintain and communicate the architectural blueprint across contributing teams
• Oversee build quality, design reviews, and ensure delivered work matches design
• Serve as a technical counterpart for external teams, defining interfaces and sequencing
• Drive integrations with partner platforms (hotels, air content, mid-office, ticketing, invoicing)
• Design provider integrations to avoid rebuilds when adding/changing providers
• Own engineering estimation and sizing, challenging vague or unclear requirements
• Design the end-to-end system to scale, including manual steps
• Establish observability, alerting, SLAs, and safe rollouts with kill-switches
• Evaluate AI/automation opportunities while preserving auditability and deterministic logic
• Champion AI-assisted SDLC to improve pace and quality of delivery
• Drive technology modernization and new ways of working

Key requirements

• 7+ years in software engineering with architecture/leadership experience
• Proven track record delivering across multiple teams and maintaining a single design
• Experience delivering complex, distributed, event-driven backend systems
• Strong experience integrating third-party systems with retries, idempotency, partial failures, versioning
• Proficiency in cloud-native delivery (Azure preferred), containers, CI/CD, IaC, test automation
• Experience in systems with high financial/customer impact and costly degraded service
• Experience automating manual production processes incrementally
• Knowledge of travel tech: GDS, NDC, hotel/air content, and booking workflows
• Understanding of AI value in auditable, deterministic systems
• Ability to communicate trade-offs to commercial/operational stakeholders
• Experience with multi-roadmap environments and remote or distributed teams
• Degree in Technology, Engineering, or related field preferred
