Power Market Analytics – Analyst

Overview

In this role you will help shape Argus’s power advisory capability by delivering consultancy and market analysis for clients in the power sector. You will build and refine fundamental power market models, translate outputs into clear views and forecasts, and stay ahead of key drivers and risks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent market viewpoints and contribute to the firm’s energy transition perspectives. Responsibilities

• Shape and deliver consultancy advisory work for power clients (price, market due diligence, regulatory responses, investment support)
• Develop and continuously improve fundamental power market models (supply, demand, dispatch, price formation)
• Translate modelling outputs into market views and price forecasts
• Maintain knowledge of major power industry drivers and trends; identify key market risks
• Support client-facing deliverables (reports, consulting, presentations)
• Own specific market segments (e.g., Germany, UK, Iberia)
• Learn and align with other Argus Generation Fuel services to ensure consistent market views
• Collaborate with Analytics and other teams; act as Subject Matter Expert where needed
• Contribute to Argus views on power market development through energy transition

Key requirements

• Degree level education (2.1 or above) from a leading university
• 3–5+ years in power markets or a closely related field
• Experience with third-party energy modelling software (Plexos) is advantageous
• Strong numerical ability with meticulous data analysis
• Structured problem solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Advanced IT skills including Excel and PowerPoint; knowledge of R is a plus
• Ability to manage multiple tasks to tight deadlines; flexible and motivated to grow Argus’ Consulting Services
