A dynamic secondary school in Bournemouth, Dorset, is seeking an inspiring Head of Business Studies to lead its vocational and academic business courses on a full-time, permanent basis starting in January.

Job Overview

Business Studies plays a vital role in this school’s Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 curriculum. The successful applicant will take leadership responsibility for GCSE Business, A-Level Business, and BTEC/CTEC Vocational Business qualifications.

Working alongside Social Sciences teachers, you will manage curriculum design, internal BTEC verification, enterprise competitions, and business lab technology. This is a full-time, permanent contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and curriculum management across GCSE, A-Level, and BTEC Business courses
• Teach engaging Business lessons across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
• Act as Lead Internal Verifier (LIV) for vocational BTEC/CTEC Business portfolios
• Coordinate Young Enterprise programs, corporate visits, and guest speaker events
• Analyze student progress data, implement revision workshops, and oversee exam submissions
• Line-manage department teaching staff and manage digital business resources

Candidate Requirements

• An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
