Are you an experienced pay and reward professional who can turn complex evidence into practical strategies and influence senior leaders? If you can balance organisational priorities, Civil Service trends and affordability, we would love to hear from you.
About the Team
The People and Capability Team is a diverse group of HR professionals providing critical support across HM Treasury, from day-to-day advice to transformational change. The Reward team sits within the Resourcing and Reward Branch and works closely with HR colleagues, Finance, senior leaders and partners across government.
You will join a small, motivated and inclusive team that delivers HM Treasury’s high-profile pay and reward strategy and works to improve the overall people offer.
About the Job
As HM Treasury’s Pay and Reward Lead, you will develop and implement the department’s pay and reward strategy. You will combine delivery of key cyclical activity with innovative reward programmes, using strong analytical skills to translate sophisticated technical information into practical, fully costed proposals for senior leaders.
You will work autonomously across a varied portfolio and build effective relationships with teams across HM Treasury, the cross-government reward network, trade union representatives and HM Treasury’s arm’s-length bodies.
· Develop and deliver the pay and reward strategy for HM Treasury’s delegated and Senior Civil Service grades, embedding Civil Service standards and aligning with the Cabinet Office pay framework.
· Partner with HR and Finance Business Partners to develop reward plans and present properly modelled and costed options.
· Lead reward projects and reviews, including reviews of allowances, and communicate and implement resulting changes.
· Lead HM Treasury’s Gender, Disability and Ethnicity pay gap reporting, internal engagement and action planning.
· Own and regularly review the department’s core pay policies, ensuring fair and consistent delivery.
· Lead on central data commissions and reward activity across HM Treasury’s arm’s-length bodies.
· Build networks across the Civil Service HR profession to keep HM Treasury aligned with cross-government people strategy.
About You

· The ability to assess complicated information, weigh different options and clearly explain your recommendation.
· The ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders and make complex information accessible.
· The ability to lead a small reward team while managing a large and varied portfolio of strategic projects.
· CIPD Level 5 or Level 7, or a willingness to work towards this once appointed.
