Role Overview
Our Sustainable Water Management Team are seeking Flood Risk Modellers to help deliver our national programme of work. You will focus on the delivery of flood risk management projects and have the opportunity to be a major contributor or lead for our external and internal clients. The national fluvial and pluvial modelling team delivers flood modelling to support a broad portfolio of work, including FCERM studies, major infrastructure projects across the energy, transport, government, and water sectors, and strategic studies.
Responsibilities
- Work on fluvial and pluvial modelling projects using software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HECRAS, or ICM.
- Support and participate in flood modelling studies within the team.
- Scope and develop hydraulic modelling approaches.
- Lead or support technical reviews of hydraulic models.
- Prepare or support technical reports and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
- Support or lead project, commercial, and financial management for projects.
- Maintain client and stakeholder liaison.
Qualifications
- Proven track record in undertaking fluvial and pluvial hydraulic modelling.
- Experience providing technical leadership in flood modelling teams.
- Experience undertaking model reviews for statutory bodies.
- Commercial experience, including project management and bid preparation.
- Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
- Relevant experience delivering infrastructure projects or working with local authorities/national governments.
- Drive and ability to build client relationships and develop opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Chartership with a relevant professional body or commitment to work towards it within an agreed period.
- Desirable experience in GIS, FCERM studies, Flood Risk Assessments, knowledge of UK flood risk policy (NPPF and TAN15), and UK flood estimation methods.
