The Successful Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience working within children’s residential care.
• Experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader or Deputy Manager.
• Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
• Strong understanding of Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, safeguarding legislation and Ofsted requirements.
• Experience implementing Quality Standards and Children’s Homes Regulations.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, including restorative approaches and therapeutic models such as PACE.
• Experience working alongside external agencies including local authorities, education providers, therapists and healthcare professionals.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Experience supervising, mentoring and motivating staff.
• Competent decision-making skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Good administrative and IT skills, including experience maintaining electronic care records.
• A genuine passion for improving outcomes for children and young people.

Main Responsibilities

• Support the Registered Manager with the day-to-day running of the home, deputising in their absence.
• Lead, motivate and develop the staff team, promoting a positive, therapeutic culture throughout the service.
• Ensure the home remains fully compliant with Ofsted regulations, Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
• Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of children remains at the heart of all decision-making.
• Support referrals, admissions and care planning, ensuring each young person receives high-quality, person-centred care.
• Work alongside therapists and professionals to embed trauma-informed practice, including therapeutic approaches such as PACE.
• Complete quality assurance audits, monitoring reports and contribute to Regulation 44 and Regulation 45 compliance.
• Build positive relationships with families, local authorities, schools and external professionals to achieve the best outcomes for young people.
• Chair meetings, oversee incidents, maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is completed to a high standard.
• Supervise, mentor and develop Residential Support Workers through regular supervisions, appraisals, inductions and performance management.
• Participate in the on-call rota and contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the home.
