Salary: £26,859 – £28,501 per annum
Smart Teachers is recruiting a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to work in a welcoming and high-achieving secondary school in Hackney from June/July 2026
This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers or experienced Cover Supervisors looking to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive school environment.
The Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with the work that has been set. You will play an important role in maintaining a positive learning environment and supporting students to achieve their best.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising classes across a range of secondary subjects.
- Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students remain on task.
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
- Providing feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and lesson outcomes.
- Supporting the wider school community and contributing to a positive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience working with young people in an educational or similar setting.
- Be confident managing groups of students independently.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management and organisational skills.
- Be flexible, reliable and adaptable.
- Hold a degree or relevant experience (desirable but not essential).
