Role
We are looking for a highly motivated lawyer to provide high quality advice and representation to the Council, Officers and Elected Members. Working as part of a team, you will provide advice and effectively conduct legal matters relating to local government law with emphasis on prosecutions and licensing.
The role is career graded, allowing appointment according to experience and ability with subsequent career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and representation to the Council, Officers, and Elected Members.
- Adeptly advise and conduct proceedings relating to local government law, especially prosecutions and licensing.
- Support Principal Solicitors, Monitoring Officer and Deputy Monitoring Officer to ensure statutory requirements are met.
- Manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain high quality of work under pressure.
- Mentor and support development of colleagues, and deputise for the Principal Lawyer where appropriate.
About You
- Demonstrable knowledge and experience in advising and conducting local government prosecutions and licensing.
- Current practising certificate.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex information in accessible formats.
- Strong analytical skills, work to deadlines, and collaborate effectively.
- Independence in work with confidence to seek support when needed.
