Major Projects Planning Officer

6 month initial contract, Inside IR35
£65 per hour, depending on experience
This role is based mainly working from home, with the exception of site visits and key meetings.
Role Overview
This newly created position responds to a growing workload linked to continued development within the local area. The local authority seeks an experienced planner capable of hit‑the‑ground‑running performance with minimal supervision, while maintaining the high level of service expected by the organisation.
The role involves managing a mixed caseload of applications and working both individually and as part of a team to deliver consistent, quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Support the local authority on a range of urban planning cases in progress
- Attend site visits when required, using own vehicle
- Prepare and submit planning documents for strategic, major, and PPA developments
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure timely and accurate case processing
Qualifications
- Recent experience on strategic and major developments, including PPA work
- Access to own vehicle for site visits
- Strong knowledge of planning legislation and local development strategy
