Teaching Assistant – Waltham Forest, London
Are you passionate about making a real difference to children at school with SEN? This full‑time position starts September2026 in a well‑resourced primary school located in the heart of Waltham Forest. The role offers excellent transport links, a staff car park, training and career development opportunities, and a competitive salary of £26,000–£34,000 (pro rata) in a full term‑time schedule (Monday–Friday8:30am–3:30pm).
Responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support for pupils with additional needs.
- Assist the class teacher and SENCO with planning and delivering teaching activities.
- Carry out general class teaching assistant duties and promote a positive learning environment.
- Act as a positive role model, encouraging confidence and constructive behaviour.
Qualifications and Experience
Open to graduates as well as experienced Teaching Assistants. Experience supporting one or more of the following needs would be an advantage:
- ADHD
- Autism (ASD)
- Asperger Syndrome
- Social, Emotional, Mental Health (SEMH)
- Global Delay
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD)
- Challenging Behaviour
The ideal candidate will be genuinely passionate about working with children with SEN, driven to improve their education and life chances, and able to support pupils in one‑to‑one and small group settings.
