This Graduate Teaching Assistant role is ideal for recent graduates considering a career in teaching, educational psychology or another education-related profession who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience.
The successful Graduate Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers to support pupils across a range of year groups and abilities. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will provide classroom support, deliver targeted interventions and work with pupils on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups to help them achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities of the Graduate Teaching Assistant:
- Supporting teaching and learning within the classroom.
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
- Delivering targeted interventions under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation.
- Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs where required.
- Promoting positive behaviour and classroom engagement.
- Encouraging pupil confidence, independence and participation.
- Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
The Ideal Graduate Teaching Assistant Will:
- Hold a degree in any subject.
- Have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in education.
- Have previous experience working with children or young people (desirable).
- Be enthusiastic, patient and adaptable.
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
- Have a fully checkable work history.
