This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically strong ACA-qualified accountant to join a market-leading organisation during an exciting period of continued growth. Reporting into the Finance Director, you’ll take ownership of the group’s financial accounting, statutory reporting and tax compliance, whilst leading a small team and driving improvements across the finance function.

The Role
As Accounting & Tax Manager, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the group’s financial reporting, maintaining a robust control environment and overseeing all statutory and tax obligations. Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll play a key role in improving finance processes, enhancing reporting capabilities and supporting wider strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the financial accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely month-end and year-end reporting.
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements in line with relevant accounting standards.
- Manage the general ledger, balance sheet integrity and key financial reconciliations.
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies, controls and governance across the finance function.
- Coordinate external financial reporting requirements and support regulatory compliance.
- Work alongside external tax advisers to ensure all corporate tax and indirect tax obligations are met.
- Manage tax submissions, compliance activities and support any HMRC enquiries or reviews.
- Monitor legislative developments and assess their impact on the business.
- Produce cash flow forecasts and provide regular treasury reporting to senior stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banking partners and external advisers.
- Lead the annual external audit process and support internal audit activities where required.
- Implement recommendations arising from audit reviews to strengthen financial controls.
- Lead, mentor and develop the financial accounting team, creating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve reporting and enhance finance systems.
- Support wider finance transformation and change initiatives as the business continues to evolve.
About You
We’re looking for a technically excellent accountant who enjoys improving processes as much as delivering high-quality financial reporting.
You’ll ideally have:
- ACA qualification, ideally trained within a leading accountancy practice.
- Strong experience across financial accounting, statutory reporting and technical accounting.
- Excellent knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Broad tax knowledge across corporate tax and indirect taxes.
- Experience preparing or reviewing statutory accounts.
- Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to explain technical accounting matters clearly to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Previous experience leading or developing finance teams would be advantageous.
- A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement and process optimisation.
