Cover Supervisor – Sunderland
Milk Education is seeking confident and reliable Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in the Sunderland area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils aged 11–16, supervise pre-planned lessons, and help maintain a calm, positive learning environment where every student feels motivated to succeed.
You will play a key role in ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher, working closely with school leadership and teaching staff.

South Tyneside
Hours
8:30am – 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (Flexible supply work available)
Pay
£115 – £130 per day (dependent on experience)
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Experience working with young people aged 11–16 in a school, youth work, or similar setting
- Graduate Level Degree
- Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
- A proactive, professional attitude with a commitment to inclusive education
- Ability to provide two recent references
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise classes in the absence of the teacher using pre-set work
- Maintain a positive, structured, and safe learning environment
- Support pupils in completing tasks and staying engaged
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies
- Provide feedback to teaching staff on pupil progress and behaviour
- Work collaboratively with school staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
