About Legal Experience Training
Legal Experience Training (‘LET’) is a legal training consultancy established in 2009 to provide legal and practical skills training to investigators, expert witnesses and witnesses giving evidence in a range of hearings.
The firm have been Top Ranked in Band 1 in “Chambers Litigation Support” in for the last 5 years. We are instructed direct by organisations, law firms and by recommendation from Members of the Bar. Our clients include public and private sector organisations.
Who are we looking for?
Judges, barrister or solicitors with a minimum of 3 years’ litigation experience in practice. To be enthusiastic legal skills tutors for investigators, experts and witnesses or assessors of oral skills or written assessments. There is an option to be an assessor or a tutor. There is no requirement to do both.
You will be a judicial, solicitor or barrister practitioner in the field of criminal or civil/commercial litigation with a minimum of 3 years in practice. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills. Your role will be to deliver legal skills-based learning to our non-lawyer clients. You will provide legal skills training to those who have investigative, regulatory and enforcement roles or are expert witnesses in the criminal and civil justice system. The legal skills training you will deliver includes;
- The rules of evidence and contemporaneous records;
- Written evidence (statements and reports to be used in legal proceedings);
- Expert evidence including report writing, expert witness meetings and giving evidence.
Tutors are booked and paid to deliver training by the day. Typically, you will deliver the training in 1 or 2 days modules to groups of up to 16 delegates. The training includes tutor led plenary sessions based around exercises, case studies and role play. You will be provided with a study guide, training materials and a tutor’s guide for all the training that you run. You will be supported though co leads to ensure you build your confidence and skills.
You will deliver the majority of the training via a conferencing link and so must have access to reliable high-quality broadband. You may be asked to deliver training face to face. Face to face training is delivered around the UK so you may be asked to travel and stay away overnight.
Fees
Training
The tutor fee is a day rate of £300 – £400 per day. All travel; accommodation and subsistence expenses are paid for by LET at cost on top of the day rate fee.
Assessing
The fee for marking written and/or oral assessments is a fee per assessment.
What we want from you
You will have the intelligence, passion and ability to engage and inspire our non-lawyer clients who work within the civil or criminal justice system as expert witnesses and investigators. We are open minded about the level of experience that you have as a tutor. We welcome those that do have some previous experience, however if you are looking to become a tutor and do not have previous tutoring experience we can help you develop the skills needed to be a great tutor. What we need from you is the passion and drive to inspire others in practical legal skills-based learning.

You will have the opportunity to provide legal skills training to a range of professional and expert witnesses working in the civil or criminal justice system. You will be able to create your own work life balance by choosing when to work and when not to work. The role is sufficiently flexible to be combined with a part time judicial or practitioner role. The programmes that we run will rarely conflict with school holidays. You may choose the number of days per quarter that you deliver training for us.
