Hays Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be recruiting for our client, an Interim Financial Accountant to join their Belfast-based finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Supporting a large international business, you will work closely with stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions, taking ownership of financial reporting, forecasting, statutory compliance and business partnering activities. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant to gain exposure to a global finance function while contributing to strategic decision-making, process improvements and the ongoing growth of the organisation.
Your new role
- Preparing monthly management accounts, financial reports, and variance analysis.
- Supporting month-end and quarter-end close processes, including journal preparation and account reconciliations.
- Producing forecasts and financial projections for multiple international entities.
- Managing balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
- Supporting payroll accounting activities and ensuring accurate cost allocation across entities.
- Preparing and analysing financial data to support business decision-making.
- Assisting with statutory accounts preparation and year-end audit processes.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns across various jurisdictions.
- Partnering with commercial and operational teams to provide financial insight and performance analysis.
- Supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles.
- Monitoring accounts receivable performance and bad debt trends.
- Identifying opportunities to enhance financial controls, efficiencies, and automation.
- Supporting ERP system improvements and process optimisation projects.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal governance frameworks.
What you’ll need to succeed
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant with strong financial reporting experience.
- Good working knowledge of IFRS and/or US GAAP.
- Experience supporting audits, VAT compliance and month-end reporting.
- Strong ERP systems knowledge and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management abilities.
