Job Description Summary
The Production Operative will work on the shop floor building high-quality electro-mechanical assemblies and operating automated test equipment in line with defined quality standards. The role supports production output and customer delivery deadlines within a structured manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
– Build electrical and mechanical assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610 standards – Carry out soldering activities to the required quality standards – Assemble wiring looms and components, including wiring to engineering drawings- – Operate automated test equipment on sub-assemblies and completed assemblies – Perform self-inspection to ensure products meet quality requirements – Record and report any defects, discrepancies, or non-conformances – Pack finished products in line with company and customer requirements – Adhere to all work instructions, quality standards, and production timescales – Achieve agreed output and quality targets – Maintain strong ESD and FOD awareness at all times – Maintain a clean, safe, and organised shop-floor working environment – Work collaboratively with team members to meet deadlines, demonstrating flexibility where required – Report issues, concerns, or deviations promptly to the Team Leader or Line Manager – Train colleagues when requested, in line with agreed company standards and processes -Maintain positive and professional working relationships across the production team
Skills & Experience
– Experience in electrical and mechanical assembly – Soldering experience – ESD awareness – Ability to follow work instructions and engineering documentation – Experience operating or working with automated test equipment – Background in a similar manufacturing or production role (2–3 years’ experience) – Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Desirable
– Wiring experience – Ability to wire assemblies to engineering drawings and schematics – Previous experience in a regulated or high-quality manufacturing environment
