About The Role
As a Senior Care Companion, you will combine direct care with day-to-day practice leadership. You will help colleagues deliver safe, consistent and person-centred support; coordinate shifts or visits; identify and escalation concerns; and provide the Registered Manager with reliable information about quality and service delivery. You will model CarerCore’s values and remain visible and approachable to service users, families and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality direct care and model CarerCore’s expected standards.
- Coordinate allocated shifts, visits and handovers within delegated authority.
- Check that staff have the correct information, competence and resources for assigned work.
- Support induction, shadowing, mentoring and day-to-day staff development.
- Respond to missed calls, incidents, changes in need and immediate service pressures.
- Review care records, medicines documentation and handovers for completeness.
- Support spot checks, observations of practice, feedback and quality audits.
- Recognise and escalation safeguarding concerns, deterioration and potential service failures.
- Contribute factual information to reviews, investigations and improvement actions.
- Maintain professional communication with service users, families, staff and other professionals.
What We’re Looking For
- Substantial recent experience in domiciliary care, supported living or a comparable service.
- Evidence of taking senior, coordinating, mentoring or lead responsibility.
- A recognised Level 3 health and social care qualification or equivalent competence.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, medicines, incident reporting and risk management.
- Strong organisation, communication and constructive feedback skills.
- Current NISCC registration relevant to the service setting.
- A driving licence, suitable vehicle and business-use insurance for field coverage.
- Experience of spot checks, quality audits or staff supervision is desirable.
